<p>A mobile device for treating plants such as crops and fruit trees in the field, e.g. for spraying or picking fruit, has one or more swivelling wheels (3, 4), a feeler (26) for sensing the position of parts of plants, which have to be treated, which, if no such plant part is sensed, swivels such a wheel (3, 4) into a position, in which the device on further movement will move slightly sideways in such a direction that a plant part to be sensed will again be sensed, by which the feeler (26) will swivel said wheel (3, 4) back into the opposite sideways direction until again no plant part is sensed and so on. For devices movable in opposite directions, there may be two such swivelling devices (8, 26-35), each one acting on a different wheel (3, 4), one of said devices operating as given and the other one keeping its wheel (3,4) in the general direction of movement along the row(s) of plants to be treated. When moving the device in the opposite direction, these activities are reversed from one swivelling device to the other.</p> |
