PURPOSE:To provide the above device enabling the electrical wiring of light emitting diodes in high density and enabling high density printing of high accuracy at the time of use as a light source for an optical printer. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode array is constituted of edge emission type light emitting diodes 312 obtaining light outputs from the side surfaces not parallel to a plane containing active layers 34 of the respective light emitting diodes. The electrical connection of the light emitting diodes 312 of the light emitting diode array and the drive circuit driving the light emitting diodes is performed by the wire bonding of the wiring bonding pads 71 electrically connected to the light emitting diodes by conductive materials 72 and the drive circuit and at least one or more row of the wiring bonding pads 71 are arranged and formed behind the light emitting diode array in an array form in parallel to the light emitting diode array.
