Deep drawing cold rolled steel - mfd. by casting and rolling thin slabs of electric or converter steel with higher scrap components

Mfr. of deep drawing cold rolled steel from electric steel or converter steel with a high scrap component by casting and rolling thin slabs, a process which entails: (a) smelting of raw and scrap steel in an electric furnace or a converter, (b) metallurgical treatment of the molten raw steel, (c) prodn. of warm rolled strip by casting and rolling thin slabs, and (d) processing of the warm strip, resulting in cold rolled strip with deep drawing properties. The novelty of the process being that during cold rolling (step (d)) the extent of deformation does not exceed 60% (epsilon = 1 - (cold strip thickness/warm strip thickness)). ADVANTAGE - Favourable process economics, uniform prod. quality and an expanded range of prods. mfd. from cold strip.
