Nuclear reactor with passive core melt cooling - includes upright prismatic hollow bodies located in basin-like structure below core
摘要
In a nuclear reactor having a basin-like structure below the core, upright prismatic hollow bodies are located in the structure to provide passive cooling enhancement if core melting occurs. Pref. the bodies are made of Fe alloy or high melting material or are completely or partially (e.g. only in the upper region) externally insulated. ADVANTAGE - The hollow bodies increase the surface area of the melt and provide passive heat exctraction from the melt.
