Process uses a powder - of metal, for example as the initial material. The powder is accommodated in a ring mould whose volume corresponds to the mass of the finished product. In this mould the powder is compressed into the shape of the required ring rolling blank. The sintered blank made of the initial material is sinter-forged in the ring mould. A part of the mass of the initial material can be replaced by one or more inserts. USE/ADVANTAGE - The invention can be used in ring rolling installations. Its use results in substantial savings in comparison with the traditional methods in which blanks for ring rolling mills are produced from billets by forging operations.
