PURPOSE:To reduce the variation of characteristics and lengthen its life in a metal halide lamp which is used only with an arc tube without providing an external tube and is lit in a horizontal state while being blasted and cooled. CONSTITUTION:A metal hilide lamp is constituted by fastening a base 12, on the upper side of which a cooling blast nozzle 11 is integrally formed, at one end of an arc tube 1. Thereby the variation of the mounting location of the blast nozzle 11 can be eliminated, so that the blast cooling on the predetermined part can be performed and the cooling on the maximum temperature part can be performed without variation while keeping the minimum temperature part at the predetermined temperature. |
