The invention relates to a rocking chair of the type comprising a carrying structure (1, 3, 4, 8) forming a seat connected, by means of a rocking mechanism, to a fixed lower support (19, 14, 15). According to the invention, the rocking mechanism consists, on either side of the flanks of the carrying structure, of two connecting rods (links) (6) equipped with transverse wings mounted in rotation, the said connecting rods (6) connecting the crosspiece (7) securing the front underframe (base) (8) and the rear underframe (1) of the carrying structure to a crosspiece (5) mounted integral with the lower support, the crosspiece (5, 7)/connecting rod (6) assembly forming a deformable quadrilateral permitting rocking of the carrying structure between two extreme positions.
