Adaptor for transport of non-standard containers - adaptors fit onto side of container to make container of standard size for transport

The container ship is equipped with guide rails to receive containers with a width which meets the I.S.C. standard. In order to carry containers of non-I.S.C. width, adaptors are fitted to the corners of the non-I.S.C. containers so that the width over the adaptor is equal to the width of an I.S.C. container. The adaptor (1) has a body (1a) in the form of a truncated pyramid with a leg (1d) projecting from the base. This leg (ld) has an end piece (1c) which engages a slot in the corner fitting of the container or a slot in the guide rail. Two such adaptors may be connected by a bar and fitted to one side of a container. ADVANTAGE - Non-standard containers can be transported in a ship designed to transport standard containers.
