<p>Compsn. for regenerating, stimulating and strengthening the growth of hair contains the alkaloid trigonellin or trigonellic acid. Pref. the alkaloid (I) is supplied as extracts of plants (esp. seeds) of the sub-family Trigonella, partic. the fenugreek (T. foenum graerum). The compsn. may also include steroidal glycosides; proteins of high Lys and Try contents; a galactose-type mucilage; vitamin B6; ethanol, and/or the preservative nipastat. The extract is recovered from fenugreek seeds by swelling, then extraction with water. (I) contains coffearin; N-methylnicotyl-3-carboxy-betaine acid and N-methylpyridine-3 carboxy-betaine acid.</p> |
