PURPOSE:To improve stability and reliability of an operation of a semiconductor laser by regulating a temperature of a chip of the laser to a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:As shown, a semiconductor laser (abbreviated to as 'LD' chip 11, a temperature control element 12, a beam splitter 13, a back-light power monitor 14, and a wavelength detecting means 15 are provided, and an automatic output controller 2 and an automatic temperature controller 3 are connected. A semiconductor laser temperature control system in an LD module 1 capable of automatically controlling an output and a temperature by utilizing a phenomenon in which an oscillation wavelength of the LD is varied according to a temperature of the LD chip comprising wavelength detecting means 15 for generating an error voltage according to a dissociation from an oscillation wavelength to be a reference, an automatic temperature controller for amplifying the voltage to increase or decrease the current of a temperature control element 12 thereby to control the temperature of the LD chip to a predetermined value. There are a system in which the means 15 has a wavelength filter and a photosensor and a system having a photodetector of a wavelength characteristic which is not flat. |
