PURPOSE:To purify odorous components existing in a room by using an absorbing member and a heat-generating element having a catalyst-coated layer. CONSTITUTION:An adsorbing member 4 adsorbs odorous components in air, and deodorized air is discharged through an outlet port 8. Further, a heat- generating element 5 positioned in the vicinity of the adsorbing member 4 is intermittently supplied with electric power and actuated automatically or manually before the odorous component adsorption capability of the adsorbing member 4 reaches its limit. The heat-generating element 5 performs the desorption of the odorous components adsorbed to the adsorbing member 4 to recover the adsorption capability of the adsorbing member 4, and at the same time, the odorous components desorbed from the adsorbing member and those included in air are oxidized decomposed by a catalyst-coated layer 6 which is formed on the surface of the heat-generating element 5, and which is activated by the heat-generating element 5, so that the odorous components are made odorless. |
