PURPOSE:To provide a phosphoric acid type fuel cell of high reliability whereby longness of a life can be attained while preventing deterioration of cell characteristic by preventing seepage of phosphoric acid when the cell is in starting operation. CONSTITUTION:Phosphoric acid concentration measuring terminals 12a, 12b are connected to both ends of a fuel cell main unit 11 and to a phosphoric acid concentration measuring device 13. In the fuel cell main unit 11, a temperature measuring terminal 15 for measuring a temperature in the inside of a cell is provided and connected to a phosphoric acid concentration control unit 16. To this phosphoric acid concentration control unit 16, a concentration detection value from the above-mentioned phosphoric acid concentration measuring device 13 is input through an output signal line 14. In the phosphoric concentration control unit 16, preferable phosphoric acid concentration at a temperature detected by the temperature measuring terminal 15 is compared with phosphoric acid concentration, really measured by the phosphoric concentration measuring device 13, to control a temperature rising speed of the cell so that the preferable phosphoric acid concentration is obtained. |
