<p>PURPOSE:To easily obtain an NiTi alloy having a sound structure free from segregation by performing arc melting by the use of an NiTi ingot prepared by means of high frequency induction heating as a consumable electrode, dripping the resulting molten metal into a mold to exert lamination solidification, and carrying out hot working in the above state. CONSTITUTION:A melting material consisting of, by weight, 50-60% Ni and 50-40% Ti is melted by means of high frequency induction heating under an inert atmosphere. The resulting molten metal is ingoted in the above state under the inert atmosphere. Subsequently, this NiTi ingot is used as a consumable electrode and subjected to arc melting under the inert atmosphere and then dropped into a water-cooled mold, which is laminated and solidified in the above mold and formed into an ingot having high degree of soundness in respect of metallic structure. The ingot is hot-worked in the above state into an NiTi material.</p> |
