<p>PURPOSE:To cause a golf tee to rapidly degrade with rainwater, etc., and make left tees harmless to the environment because of their biodegradability by molding a mixture obtained by addition of a water soluble plasticizer to polyvinyl alcohol in a specific weight ratio. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinyl alcohol for use in a golf tee should preferably have a low degree of polymerization from the point of view of the degrading property of the tee, since it then has high water solubility: One having a degree of polymerization not more than 1500 is especially desirable. A water soluble plasticizer is used; alcohol groups with high boiling points such as glycerol and ethylene are best suited for the plasticizer. The plasticizer is added to the polyvinyl alcohol by 1 to 100wt.% and preferably within the range of 3.0 to 20wt.%. The golf tee is manufactured by adding an additive such as water to the polyvinyl alcohol and the water soluble plasticizer when needed, and molding a mixture which is obtained by kneading of them. Because polyvinyl alcohol and glycerol are biodegradable, they biodegrate in the environment and so do not pollute the environment.</p> |
