The fault current monitor has a summing current converter, a detector (3) and an indicator (4). The detector circuit is exclusively supplied with power via the converter (1). The indicator is exclusively powered via the detector circuit. The detector circuit contains a rectifier (5) connected to the converter. The rectifier drives a capacitor (6) and threshold switch (7). The indicator has a button (10) for interrupting its display. It can contain visual and acoustic transducers (9, 8), only the latter (8) being interruptible. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for use in networks in which secondary side of power transformer is unearthed. Reliable indication of fault currents is achieved without taking power from conductors.
