摘要 Continous processing of pyrolysis prods. is effected in a shaft furnace in which (a) C and Al are burned with a stoichiometric O2 supply and (b) the heat of combustion serves to melt metals and slag-forming components, which are sepd. in the liq. state and discharged. The pyrolysis reactor has a water-cooled char discharge outlet (1) equipped with water-cooled crushing rolls (2). The char passes through a water-cooled dome (3) to form a bed (8) in the shaft furnace. O2 is injected through water-cooled Cu nozzles (10) into the bottom of the bed, and pyrolysis gases are injected through water-cooled nozzles (7) onto the top of the bed. A CO- and H2-rich fuel gas, formed by reaction of C with CO2 and H2O and by thermal decomposition of tars and oils, is withdrawn through an outlet (5) in the dome. Slag (11) and pig Fe (13) are discharged from the bottom of the furnace via siphon tubes. USE - The process may be used to recover fuel gases and metals (pig iron) from the char remaining after pyrolysis of domestic refuse.
