Extinguishing borehole fires by conical arrangement placed over fire - to interrupt speed balance between flame front and energy supply

This method of extinguishing boreholes fores has an arrangement that separates from its energy supply (10) the flame (8) shooting out from the borehole. Variants claimed include: flow speeds at the top (7) of the opening (7a) exceeding those of the air/oil mixt. in the fire space (2); the conical body (1) with a cylindrical base (9), and a space between the outer cover of teh cone and the flame space (2); a baffle plate (4) at the air inlet to the fire spcae; supply of an extinguishing agent such as an inert gas or foam; and the arrangement having rollers or wheels for mobility. USE/ADVANTAGE - Boreholes fores have a concentrated high-energy discharge that renders conventional extinguishing methods inadequate. Such fires need a balance in speed between teh energy supply and the flame front if they are to survive. The proposed method breaks down this balance to fight the fire effectively.
