<p>A bed (10) comprises a bed frame (50) consisting of four sections (52, 54, 56, and 58) which are interconnected through pivot joints (53, 55, and 57). The bed frame (50) of the bed (10) is adjustable to a 2-part, 4-part or the so-called Trendelenburg position by means of two power-generating motors (44, 46) an engageable and disengageable power-transmitting device and a carrier device as the transition between the 2- and 4-part position is established by disengaging and engaging the engageable and disengageable power-transmitting device.
