<p>PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive device for attaching a retarding member, which is specially usable for a lower sheet separating/feeding device adapted to be used for an inexpensive document feeder in a copying machine. CONSTITUTION: An inexpensive device for attaching a retarding member, inhibits the retarding member from being inclined in the sheet feed direction or from undesirably moving, but only allows desirable crosswise inclination and desirable vertical motion (which is restrained by a spring load) for the same which therefore turns crosswise of an opposed sheet feed member so as to be automatically set to be horizontal. The shapes of a sheet contact surface of a sheet pad and sheet contact surface of a sheet feed member is determined and arranged so as to optimize the separation and feed of sheets from the stack, and as well, to minimize variable and nonuniform or local high pressure concentration which possibly cause smearing, vibration and other problems of an image. Further, it is cooperated with and assisted by the device for attaching the retarding member, during the operation.</p> |
