PURPOSE:To obtain a product of superior magnetic characteristics and excellent thermal stability, by constituting it of a specified amount of Sm, M (M=Zr, Hf, etc.), N, Fe and Co. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of crystal grains whose average diameter is smaller than or equal to 1mum are formed, which contain Sm of 5-15at%, M (M=Zr, Hf, etc.) of 0-10at%, and N of 0.5-25at%. The residual part is constituted of Fe or Fe and Co. Firstly, alloy particles which contain Fe and Sm and have R2T17 based crystal structure are heat-treated in a hydrogen atmosphere, where R shows rare earth metal elements and T shows Fe and Co. Secondly, by heat treatment in a reduced pressure atmosphere, hydrogen is discharged, and R2T17 based fine crystal grains are formed. Further heat treatment is performed in nitrogen atmosphere. Thereby a product of superior magnetic characteristics and excellent thermal stablity can be obtained. |
