COUPLING SLEEVE FOR CONNECTION OF A BRANCH PIPE TO A MAIN PIPE, AND A PIPE PROVIDED WITH SUCH A COUPLING SLEEVE

Coupling sleeve for connection of a branch pipe to a main pipe and a pipe provided with such a coupling sleeve. Described is a coupling sleeve (1) of which the insertion end (2) is fixed in an opening in a main pipe (4) in a sealing fashion by moving said insertion end (2) outwardly with simultaneous compression of sealing means (8). The sealing means (8) is compressed such that the resulting expansion thereof provides a seal between the insertion end (2) and the periphery of the opening in the main pipe (4). The outward movement is brought about by multiple stretching elements, such as levers (9), arranged about the periphery of the coupling sleeve. Said stretching element are each and together capable of setting a predetermined fixed distance (8) between fixed points connected to the periphery of the insertion end (2) and a stop part (7) resting on the outside surface of the main pipe (4). The sealing means (8) is made of a resilient material which is compressed between the lower flanged edge (3) of the insertion end (2) and said stop part (7).
