The present invention relates to an alarm unit intended more particularly for monitoring a plurality of appliances which are protected by devices for detecting unauthorized handling. The unit includes inputs making it possible to connect detection devices and means for temporary deactivation of one or more inputs, in order to allow handling of the appliance under the authority or the control of a vendor. The unit includes means for identifying the person having deactivated an appliance as well as memory-storage means recording data relating to the person having deactivated an input, as well as the input or inputs deactivated by the said person and the time at which the said deactivation took place.
