PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber excellent in gloss and some stiff touch by discharging a specified composite flow composed of inner and outer layers through a 3-6 split nozzle hole, dissolving the outer layer component of the resultant conjugated fiber composed of bonded layers and having a hollow cross-section and making the cross-section hollow polygonal. CONSTITUTION:A composite flow composed of inner and outer layers in which a polyethylene terephthalate(PET) containing >=1.5mol% copolymerized 5-sodium sulfoisophthalic acid unit and having >=0.34 intrinsic viscosity [eta] and a (PET) having >=0.70 intrinsic viscosity [eta]and a melt viscosity 1.2-6 times that of the outer layer component are used respectively as the outer layer component and the inner layer component in 40-75wt.% composition ratio of the inner layer part, is discharged through a circular nozzle hole composed of a 3-6 split slit. The discharged composite polymer flow is wound while bonding both the layers to obtain a conjugated fiber having a hollow cross section. The outer layer component of the resultant conjugated fiber is then dissolved using a solvent to make the cross section hollow polygonal, thus obtaining the objective fiber. In addition, the above-mentioned fiber has a triangular-hexagonal cross section having 10-40% percentage of hollowness, a curvature radius (gamma) of the vertex part of the cross section of the fiber satisfying a formula gamma<=d<0.5> (d) is denier) and <=10% coefficient of fluctuation of the side between mutually adjacent vertexes. |
