The metal spring basket of a push-on fountain pen cap comprises a tube shaped section 2 from which several axially directed spring tongues 10 extend into the interior of the bore of the cap. The tongues are bent towards the longitudinal axis of the cap, and the end of each tongue is shaped so that the two outer longitudinal edges 14 and 15 thereof touch the front part of the fountain pen thereby clamping and guiding the pen to the centre axis of the cap. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the end of each tongue presents a concave surface to the body of the pen inserted in the cap, thereby providing the two edges 14 and 15. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the end of each tongue 10, in addition to the pointed roof-shaped section illustrated in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 (not shown), has a longitudinal slit, and the two resulting halves of the end are bent outwards from the inner end of the slit, whereby the two end halves are supported on the cap bore.</p> |
