PURPOSE: To apply a long-distance soliton optical wave communication system in the environment of crossing the land and the ocean. CONSTITUTION: This system uses the chain of intensive fiber amplifiers 11-1 to 11-(n+2) mutually connected by many long sections of distributed shift optical fibers 12-1 to 12-(n+2). In a system like this, when a soliton period so longer than a perturbation distance, the distortion of a pulse and the radiation of a distributed wave as the result are minimized. Then the perturbation distance is longer one of an amplifying period defined by the length of an optical fiber section between consecutive amplifiers and distribution periods defined by a length of a periodical characteristic of the perturbation. A parameter with respect to optimized soliton transmission additionally includes route average soliton energy with respect to normal soliton energy and the relation of route average distribution from one optical fiber section to the next one. A single channel system and a wavelength dividing and multiplexing system are exhibited. |
