<p>Proposed is a method of operating a couterbalancing device enabling a diver automatically to dive, surface or remain suspended at a given or pre-selected depth. The required depth is set on a regulator element, a pressure sensor measures the instantaneous water depth and the measurements are fed to an electronic control unit which determines the necessary depth, as well as the diving and surfacing speed. On the basis of the values determined, the control unit controls at least one valve in such a way that air is blown into or allowed to escape from at least one life jacket worn by the diver.</p> |
