IMPROVED METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HIGH-SPEED, OMNIDIRECTIONAL BAR CODE READER

PURPOSE: To provide a bar code read method/device for surely reading an omnidirectional bar code at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: The bar code reader is provided with an image acquisition means 14 for storing a two-dimensional image in a memory and the stored image contains a bar code mark in an image view. Means 16 and 18 for deciding the position and the orientation of a bar code mark are contained. The bar code mark which is positioned along the vertical axis of the detected orientation and whose orientation is decided is filtered. The filtered bar code mark is scanned, decoded and outputted.
