The plain assembly or repair is carried out by bearing (30) bonding its bush into a support (16) by a constant vol., hardening adhesive (14). Prior to assembly the bush is conically-turned to give cone pitch between 1:10 and 1:1000 so that on assembly an annular gap (18) is produced for the adhesive, with the gap thickness increasesing steadily right along, starting at the inserting end (22). Pref. the bush material is bronze, and the support is made of steel or steel alloy, using a two-component epoxy-based resin adhesive. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for ship's rudder shaft, stern port shaft etc., with simple and reliable bearing bush centring.
