An orthopaedic hinge comprises first and second hinge arms (7,8) or hinge arm carriers (13,14) pivoting on axial bearings (5,6) carried between spaced parallel face- and backplates (2,29). The hinge arm carriers have peripheral teeth (15,16) which engage independently movable toothed slide members (17,19) retained in grooves in the face- and backplates to achieve true bipivotal motion. Anterior and posterior screws (10,12) in threaded bosses aligned with the slide members (17,18) form adjustable abutment stops for both slide members for restricting extension and flexion of the hinge. |
