<p>An apparatus for driving a semiconductor laser device (1) comprises current supply means (4) and control means (24) for controlling the current (IF) supplied to the laser device (1) by the current supply means (4). The control means (24) include a memory. Two values (Po1, Po2) of the optical output (Po) of the laser device (1) are stored in the memory. The values (IF1, IF2) of the current (IF) required to obtain the stored values (Po1, Po2) of the optical output (Po) of the laser device (1) are also stored in the memory. The control means (24) is able to calculate the current (IF3) required to obtain a predetermined optical output (Po3) from the laser device (1) from the values (IF1, Po1, IF2, Po2) stored in the memory. <IMAGE></p> |
