Catalyst carrier or support consisting of: (a) at least 85 % by weight of alpha alumina, (b) 0.01-6 % of an alkaline earth metal oxide, (c) 0.01-5 % of silicon oxide and (d) 0-10 % of zirconium oxide (optional). The carrier is suitable for preparing silver containing ethylene oxide catalysts. A method for making the carrier is also disclosed. |
