PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality fonts by each roundish character and angular character by providing plural inflection point extracting means which subject contour line data to roundish inflection point extraction processing or angular inflection point extraction processing. CONSTITUTION:Inflection point extracting method judging means 142 which fetches the fonts constituted of the dot matrix stored in a memory device 13 and makes judgment as to whether the fonts are the respectively the roundish characters or angular characters from the lengths of the straight lines of the contour line data expressing the contour lines of the fonts with the set of the straight lines is provided. The plural inflection point extracting means 143 which subject the contour line data to the roundish inflection point extraction processing or the angular inflection point extraction processing according to this means 142 are provided. The roundish character processing and angular character processing are, therefore, executed for each of the roundish characters and angular characters at the time of executing the smoothing processing. The high-quality characters are obtd. for both the roundish characters and the angular characters in this way and the reproducibility of the characters is improved. |
