PURPOSE:To re-print a character row which has been failed to be printed automatically after replacement of an ink ribbon by a method wherein printing data which has been printed is stored, and at the same time the stored printing data is re-printed while tracing back by the number of characters which is key-inputted, in response to the simultaneous input of a specified input and number key input. CONSTITUTION:For example, when there is input by a code key or margin release key, excitation of an actuator of a printing mechanism unit 2 is shut off, and the printing mechanism unit 2 is placed under a stop condition. When a user notices that there is no remaining quantity on an ink ribbon and replaces the ink ribbon, input of number keys is performed together with input of a code key and margin release key. After initializing the printing mechanism unit 2 by exciting the actuator of the printing mechanism unit 2, the carriage of a recording head is returned to a printing position for which the printing position is traced back by the number which is inputted by a number key from a printing position right before the input of the code key and margin release key, and re-printing is performed while tracing back the printing data which is stored in a printing data buffer 9 by the number which is inputted by the previously mentioned number key. |
