A tensioning wire (30) pref. of steel is threaded through the loops between sections of string and over guidance rollers. Tightening of the wire (30) pulls the loops radially outward, increasing the tension in the strings. The tension is measured and displayed digitally by a device (20) installed between the ends of the wire (30) and the stretching element which is pulled into the handle by rotation of the knob. The peak value of the tension is calculated, stored and displayed. An electromechanical force transducer is arranged between the tensioning device and strings. The transducer is a strain gauge. The successive tension peak values are electronically counted. The tension measuring device further comprises a transmission for wireless data transmission to a receiver in a remotely located display device. ADVANTAGE - Tension can be varied easily and quickly even during match, with significant changes achieved by comparatively little repositioning of connection loops.
