PURPOSE:To increase a dust collecting effect of a dust collecting hood and further improve environment of surrounding working area by a method wherein each of a plurality of dividing seal plates is biased against an upper surface of a dust collecting hood with a resilient member and then extremity ends of these dividing seal plates can be closely contacted with an outer circumference of an electrode passed through an electrode insertion hole. CONSTITUTION:A seal member is comprised of a supporting member 6 disposed around an electrode insertion hole 140 of a dust collecting hood 14, a plurality of dividing seal plates 7A, 7B supported at the supporting member 6 to be movable while being contacted with an upper surface of the dust collecting hood 14 in a direction directing toward a center of the electrode insertion hole 140, having each of their respective extremity ends length of divided outer circumferential length of the electrode 5 and made of insulative refractory material having extremity end shape capable of being closely contacted with an outer circumference of the electrode 5, and resilient members 10A and 10B for use in resiliently biasing each of these dividing seal plates 7A and 7B toward a center of the electrode insertion hole 14a. With such an arrangement, almost of a clearance between a side wall of the electrode insertion hole 14a and the electrode 5 is closed or clogged, there is no clearance between the electrode 5 and the dividing seal plates 7A, 7B caused by vibration of the electrode and then the surrounding working environment can be improved. |
