PURPOSE:To prevent a process load from being concentrated on one controller by connecting terminal equipments and both controllers by transmission lines of two systems and also mutually connecting both the controllers so that both the controllers can be controlled through the transmission lines and a monitor line. CONSTITUTION:This POS system consists of a store controller 10, two line controllers 11a and 11b as the controllers, plural ECRs (electronic cash register) 12... as the terminal equipments. In this case, read data on the bar codes of articles from the ECRs as the terminal equipments are distributed for collation operation for collating the data with the data on the storage devices of the line controllers and registration operation for registering sale data generated when articles are sold; and one transmission line is used for the collation operation and the other is used for the registration operation to decentralize the process load. Even if a storage device of one controller is shut down, the storage device of the other controller is usable as long as the transmission lines between both the controllers are normal. Consequently, the load is prevented from being concentrated in the state wherein the system shutdown is dealt with. |
