<p>A portable liquid reservoir (10) and delivery assembly particularly suited for providing continuous medicament to ambulatory patients in which liquid under pressure from an expansible container (40) is metered through a valve system (12) under electronic control which includes valve means for filling and emptying a dosage chamber (35) for metering the liquid. The reservoir can be filled initially through an elastic septum (58), which is protected by a tamper-proof cap (100), which prevents re-use of the reservoir, and which ensures that delivery of medicament can only take place if the cap is properly installed. A sensor (91) for the dosage chamber allows accurate delivery of liquid, regardless of minor variations in assembled location between the reservoir/valve pack and the electronics control unit (14). A priming key (201) for the system which overrides the inherent safety features to allow initial flow and elimination of air from the system is also described.</p> |
