PURPOSE:To reduce the producing time by depositing a carbonaceous powder on a carbon-fiber substrate by the electrophoretic deposition method, laminating the deposits, press-forming the laminate and baking the formed body. CONSTITUTION:A self-sintering carbon powder and an emulsion-type resin (e.g. thermoplastic and/or thermosetting resins on which a hydrophilic surfactant is adsorbed) are mixed, a resin (e.g. polyacrylonitrile-based electrodeposition resin) provided with an electrodeposition force and a solvent are added to the filtered powder and kneaded, and the kneaded body is dispersed in water. A carbon-fiber substrate (anode) and a cathode member (e.g. stainless steel sheet) are dipped in the dispersion, a DC voltage is impressed to electrodeposit the carbon, surfactant-adsorbed resin, electrophoretic resin, etc., on the substrate. The deposits are laminated, the laminate is press-formed while being heated, and the formed body is heated, compressed in an inert atmosphere and baked at about 2000 deg.C. |
