PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of structure itself without affecting the strength by installing a protruding portion at right angles to the lengthwise direction at each end of a straight steel structure used as a compression member of a building structure and by disposing a tie member between the protruding portions in parallel to the steel structure. CONSTITUTION:A straight steel structure 22 fabricated of steel plates is placed as a main girder between a pair of abutments 21, 21', which are structural members for a building. At each end of the steel structure, a protruding portion 23 is installed at right angles to the lengthwise direction of the steel structure 22. A tie member 24 is disposed between the protruding portions 23 in parallel to the steel structure 22. The steel structure 22 is used as a compression member by applying a tensile load with a tie member 24. The tie member 24 is fixed with a screw member 25 while it is pulled from the rear part of the protruding portion 23. On a steel floor slab 26 over the steel structure 22, asphalt pavement 27 is laid. This constitution provides simple construction and low cost. |
