The multi-stepped belt gear (1), particular a V-belt gear has at least two adjoining pairs of belt discs (7a, 7b, 7c) which can rotate about parallel rotary axes (3, 5). The tension roller is preferably set on a sliding sleeve (14) which can be moved on the axis (13) and locked in each displaced position. USE/ADVANTAGE - It is no longer necessary to change the belt on the floor polisher when changing the gear since the transmission function of the desired belt is produced through the axial adjustment of the tension roller.
