摘要 PURPOSE:To always support an electrode with a holder definitely by using a non- reversible shape memory alloy for a holder of an excitation lamp, and transforming the holder in such a direction that it may be placed into cross contact with the electrode when having exceeded a critical temperature. CONSTITUTION:An electrode of an excitation lamp 13 is supported with a holder 20. When an electric current is supplied to the electrode. Heat is generated at the part of the electrode. Therefore, when the holder 20 is heated beyond a critical temperature based on a preset temperature, the holder is subjected to deformation resultant from martensite transformation since the holder 20 is made of and molded by a non- reversible shape memory. More particularly, a circular-shaped section 20 is deformed so as to reduce its inner diameter and create cross contact with each electrode. In this manner, the holding metal fixture 20 is martensite-transformed where the circular- shaped section 20a is brought into cross contact with each electrode so that each electrode may be supported with the holding metal fixture 20. When the excitation lamp 13 is replaced, external force is applied to a first flat surface section 20b so as to open the circular-shaped section 20a slightly and take out each electrode from an electrode insertion section.
