The motor driving the rotary brushes inside the carpet cleaning machine uses a control circuit which monitors its speed and the load applied, so that a warning is given when the speed rises to an unsafe level, or when the speed falls. A green lamp indicates that the motor is running normally and a red lamp indicates that the motor has been stopped by the circuit due to overload. If both lamps are alright, this is an indication that the motor is rotating at a reduced speed. The green lamp is in series with a resistance, and connected in parallel with the motor. The red lamp together with a series resistance is in parallel with a thyristor in the current supply for the motor. Across this lamp is connected another thyristor so that when the current through themotor falls below a certain level the thyristor does not operate.
