PURPOSE:To provide a recording liquid useful for ink jet recording, which has excellent discharge stability, long-term shelf stability, setting properties, definition, water resistance, light resistance, satety, etc., by incorporating a reactive dye and a water-soluble sulfur-contg. compd. into water and adjusting the pH within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:There is provided a compsn. contg. 0.1-20wt% dye (i) of the formula S-D-T-X (wherein S is a group capable of solubilizing the dye in water and selected from sulfone group, carboxyl group, hydroxyl group and amino group; D is a parent dye molecule selected from azo dyes, anthraquinone dyes, phthalocyanine dyes, metal complex dyes, oxazine dyes and nitro dyes; T is a group for bonding said parent dye molecule to a reactive group; X is a reactive group; T and X are each a residue selected from the groups of formulas I, II, III, etc.), 1-50wt% water-soluble sulfur-contg. compd. (ii) selected from sulfolane, 3-methylsulfolane and 2,4-dimethylsulfolane, and water (iii), and whose pH is adjusted to 2-7. |
