PURPOSE:To automatically bring a gear or gear-like member approach to and mesh the same with a gear or gear-like member held in a predetermined position. CONSTITUTION:When a cutter 54 is meshed with an attached gear G, the attached gear G is inserted to the position directly below the cutter 54 since the gear G is not pressed against the cutter 54, and then, the gear G is rotatably held in that position with the center shaft thereof being clamped by a pair of centering devices 51, 52. In this condition, a bed 3 is retracted by a hydraulic unit 4. At this time the attached gear G presses an arm part 22 which is, therefore, rotated counterclockwise for releasing a holding fixture 2. Thereafter, the tooth faces of the attached gear G is shaped by the cutter 54. |
