SENSOR APPARATUS FOR DISCRIMINATING CHEMICAL SUBSTANCE

PURPOSE:To discriminate a smelling or bitter substance by a reduced number of elements by discriminating said substance using the resonance frequency change and electrical impedance change of a responsive film coated quartz vibrator and the relative change rate of the potential change of the responsive film as indice. CONSTITUTION:A quartz vibrator 1 coated with a responsive film is connected to an electrical impedance and resonance frequency measuring apparatus 3 and also connected to an electrometer 4 along with a reference electrode 2. The quartz vibrator 1 formed so that only the electrode of the single surface coated with the responsive film thereof comes into contact with a solution and the reference electrode 2 are dipped in a predetermined amount of the electrolyte solution received in a cell 6. An ethanol solution of a smelling or bitter substance is injected in the solution and the outputs of the respective meters are plotted on a two-dimensional graph and compared with each other to make it possible to easily discriminate the bitter substance.
