Prevention of hydraulic lock in hydraulic motor - by radial grooves in gear side faces and grooves in driving shaft

The hydraulic motor consists of two meshing gear wheels (10,11) mounted in a common housing with one of the gear wheels being driven by a shaft (12). Radial grooves (19) are cut in the side faces of the gear wheels or in the abutting side walls of the housing or in both wheels and housing. Circumferential grooves are cut in the parts of the shaft which form the bearings. These grooves prevent the occurrence of hydraulic lock which could block the rotation of the motor and so render it inactive. USE/ADVANTAGE - Servo motor for power assisted steering of vehicle. The grooves ensure that the motor is always operational.
