The invention relates to a field construction for sports field or other field, comprising a planted or other surface layer and filtration layer beneath the former, and provided with a piping system 2, 3, located in the filtration layer, comprising a plurality of perforated pipes 3 for drying the field and for ducting air through the field. According to the invention the proportion of fine sand material with a grain size of less than 0.6 mm is less than 5%, and most advantageously less than 1% in the filtration layer, making it highly air-permeable, and the surface layer comprises a sufficiently large quantity of the fine material to make it significantly less air- permeable. <IMAGE>
