The overvoltage protection cassette for heavy current distributor rails comprises a housing (12) wit with U-shaped cross-section with each of the upwards projecting flanges (12) having a chamber (6') for receiving a fuse capsule (7). The bottom section of the housing (12) has two relatively offset rows of chambers (6) beneath the chambers (6') in the two flanges, each of which can be fitted with a fuse capsule (7). Each of the latter rows contains a adjacent chambers (6), so that twenty fuse capsules (7) can be accommodated by the cassette housing (12). ADVNATAGE - Increased fuse cassette capacity without increased size of cassette housing.
