PURPOSE:To attain information reproducing with a high SN ratio by detecting evanescent light including plural wavelengths obtained from full reflected light applied to the rear face of a recording medium and reproducing the detected light. CONSTITUTION:A conductive optical probe 109 is arranged close to a recording medium 102 constituted of forming a recording layer on a base capable of transmitting electromagnetic waves and having conductivity and voltage is impressed across the base and the probe 109 by a recording signal circuit 124 to record information. When the recording medium 102 is irradiated with electromagnetic waves radiated from light sources 103, 104 from the base side, the electromagnetic waves exuded to the surface of the medium 102 is detected by the probe 109 to read out the recorded information. In this case, a signal I1 with light intensity for detecting wavelength lambda1 which is slightly changed in accordance with a recording state is used for the Z direction positional control of the probe 109 at the time of recording/reproducing. Consequently, riggedness on the surface of the medium 102 can be distinguished from the recording state and the stable writing/reading of information can be attained. |
