PURPOSE:To enable file data to be transferred even to a computer not being connected directly by transferring the file data to a computer on the other side when the file data not addressed to its own host computer is supplied from a host computer on one side. CONSTITUTION:The host computers 1-1, 1-2,...,1-n are provided with files 2-1, 2-2,...,2-n in which data are stored, environmental definition files 3-1, 3-2,...,3-n in which a definition information text is stored conforming to definition information, transfer systems 41-1 to 41-i, 42-1 to 42-i,...,4n-1 to 4n-i which perform input/output, and file transfer devices 5-1, 5-2,...,5-n which transfer the file data to be transferred by attaching a transmission origin address and a transmission destination address to a neighboring host computer and deliver received data to the transfer system when the received file data shows the one addressed to its own host computer, and rewrite the transmission origin address and the transmission destination address and transfer it to the neighboring computer.
